braided lives

it is beyond beautiful.
the rest of day is spent in anticipation of getting back to gaitonde and sartaj and their many convoluted braided lives.
i am heart broken that black dahlia has been trashed by one and all
i was so sure it would be this perfect fit of De Palma, Ellroy, violent crime and noir and post war los angeles
oh what a sad only it all is
i refuse to accept that de palma is passed it
that cannot happen really
maybe like scarface this will also become just one cult classic
but apparently someone else was to direct it and depalma came into the project late late only
so maybe it was not really his vision
how can anyone, but anyone say tarantino directed traffic, l.a. confidential and moulin rouge?
and how-- this was a couple of days ago and i have forgotten what i meant to write
must have been more about idiot people who pose as film buffs
bah
eight below was wonderful
the dogs are too cute and paul walker wonder of wonders emotes
still am all tied with sartaj and gaitonde and trying to figure out who is who in bollywood and the political scene and the underworld
it was quite a shock to see gaitonde was only 27
he seemed old as sin
he started off at 19 at time of smuggling gold biscuits which seemed very seventies and eighties
so then to think only eight years had passed in the time of the 93 bomb blasts and all some how was wierd
then i am very surprised that the loss of wife and son was dealt with in such a peremptory manner
i would have thought that would be like a turning point or something kicking off a whole lot of revenge and retribution
i have crossed the half way mark and now the book is easier to hold!
oooh i have to write review
and also collect money for ticket
hmm
the ac has been turned on means it is going to be hysterically cold
cold reminds me of the proposed trip to the hills
today i was thinking if i had to write a rlt based on the trip, that would be too much na?
imagine writing about that
i guess one never stops working irrespective of where you are or if you are on vacation or what
oh remember the t shirt which said hold my calls i am on vacation?
then we could really take vacations and totally switch off
just drop off the grid
now that is a luxury that i guess i can only dream of
hmm
need not be a dream
it could be real
but i guess the spirit is all willing and all but the flesh... just chala weak
finally located two vials of penidure in bombay
it is harder to source than heroin i am thinking!
dont even know if i need to take penicillin
hash was talking about another book written by university guy called sriram
i dont know him -- name does not ring any bells but then that is not surprising because if you throw a stone you are bound to hit a srinivas, sriram or raju
mani shankar had similar thought i guess in tango charlie where ajay devgan's character asks the local man what is the most common name and the guy says srinivas and sure enough there is someone who answers to the name
it had a very home grown flavour to it
like incorporating something you heard on the dining table into the screen play
oh that reminds me of having dinner at ravi's place
it was so wierd i had met them when i was just starting out for one of first stories. a wretched valentine story and they had moved on big time
like he is doing some secret work i am thinking. and we are just where we are
things do not really change that much
it is all illusory
ha i got that right. i remember Dr M asking each of us and all of us promptly answered illionsionary and he looked pleased as punch as we were all wrong.
i seriously feel valentine's day should be banned not because of any indian culture and corrupting western values or anything like that. at least if the day is banned then we would not have to write nonsense about the day. that would be good
but well our's is not to question why, our's is to do and die
i do not even know where that came from
the hills are alive with the sound of music
and there is supposed to be a party next saturday but i feel it will not happen
it has been years since i have gotten totally wasted
it would be nice to get trashed totally and completely and even enjoy the wretched death warmed over feeling the day after

all the king's horses

the title has nothing to do with what i am writing but it was the first thing i thought of
maybe i should wait till i write and then work out a title but that sounds so much like work
like giving a headline and then soon enough i will be giving a caption and blurb and whatnot which is so not happening
radha says the man that died on the corner of the street was old. old like 40! that is hardly old but then i guess it is all relative
beyond borders is easily the worst film i have seen in a long time
very bad, very bad
hey now my mind and comp are in sync. slow bumbling muddled mind and super quick comp. what a perfect marriage
more coffee would be welcome. wish the comp could provide coffee. remember deep thought crashing because arthur dent wanted a cup of tea?
i liked the telly series but now when i think of it i have not read the books forever. dont remember when i last them. easily must have been 12 years ago
i cannot remember half of what i read
what half, most of what i read. i could not remember the accident in world according to garp. actually i cannot remember anything about the book apart from the way i think garp was conceived and his name
world according to garp reminds me of usha. she told me about the book and his name. she who got off married and has two boys. she was also the one who would be kind enough to take our starving souls to ipe for lunch and yummy omelettes
see there are so many things i remember around the book but not the book itself
i also remember reading somewhere that the mother not speaking for a long time -- having her jaw all wired up is a symbol of feminism or something like that.
all chala confusing only
and is john irving the guy that has written agony and ecstacy that joe was so keen i read?
i hope i returned his book even though i never read it
the ten most boring books that granny next has to read before dying
i would not want to read the most boring books
that sounds quite purposeless
but there are so many books that i need to read
i like sacred games very much and have not reached the stage when like baggy i too will feel that he needs to wind it up
maybe he should have also published a trilogy -- a mumbai trilogy
how he loves the city! How alive it seems! all the people in it and their bustling busy lives.
i did not expect katekar to die and die like that
i think apart from the obvious underworld funding of mainstream cinema, someone should also look at the creative contribution of the underworld from the smugglers with their flashing lights and dens to haji mastan and vijay verma in deewar to the many ramgopal varma films and then there is also munnabhai na?
hmmm without the underworld where will our dream merchants be?
i am longing to reach the chapter where gaitonde will start making a film that would be too much
finished reading the arthur trilogy by stephen something or the other
but i prefer mary stewart
her merlin view point was nice and her merlin was an extraordinary man in extraordinary times.
this whole thing of being the son of charis from the lost city of atlantis was a bit much only
that immediately puts the work in the realms of fantasy no?
oh well got to start work

the hills are calling

mmmm it would be perfect and in its perfectness, it is scary
the perfect solution for faded jaded mandarins
to go away to the hills and recoup, rejuvenate and grow happy
but if one needs to go away to be happy that cannot be much of happiness
beyond borders is a really terrible film
la joile does not even pout nicely
hee hee
so many things have changed and yet nothing really has
the wheel will turn and still be forever still
oh that eliot knew where it was at
he knew i guess that is why he was top secret
remember joseph heller
hey the comp is chala slow only
too slow for my quick quick caffeine adled mind
maybe i should write more tomorrow
when the comp and my mind are in sync
with the comp fast in the morning and my mind sluggish there would be a meeting ground
that will only be best
as this is rather frustrating

had it all figured out

the title that is but then now i have forgotten only what i had thought of for title
hmm
went to some ladies gym thingie and ate like little piggie wig
not on the hair of my chinny chin chin
pr says jasper ffordde has a new series called the nursery crime division the detective is called jack sprat
the name sounds familiar
so now apparently humpty dumpty fell of the wall because he was shot
and the three little pigs were wicked and wanted to kill the big bad wolf who was anyway only being neighbourly
sounds like fun
ooh i have got srividya's book
wonder how it will be
maybe hcu did make hazaar impression na? for there to be midsummer night's dream and fairies
oh who can forget philomel and her wretched melody?
to the tune of puff the magic dragon or was it something else
oh yeah it was scarborough fair
yes yes
we listened to it and put the words to that tune
freezing when plane flew overhead
and nigel being a lumberjack oberon
i have forsaken your bed and company
tarry rash wanton
hippolyta was supposed to do john travolta and saturday night fever and say this is the silliest thing i have ever heard.... hee hee
through each dump let every fairy thump clump clump
this key board and the comp is too slow for my mind that goes like greased lightining
the mind is restless oh krishna and it is too much to expect the poor machine to keep up with thoughts!
raju says the question and answer are both in the same line
restlesssness would be stilled if we were to think of krishna, the one that executes various divine plans
hmm that for some reason reminds me of t.s. eliot and the murder in the cathedral and that the wheel will turn and still be forever still
and the performance where we did not allow the knight who formed the fourth spoke in the wheel to go from the aisles
poor poor abhimanyu who learnt how to enter the chakravyu from his mother's womb but did not know how to come out
and there was anant velankar who was stuck in the chakravyu and did not know how to get out and varma saying shiva inspired by ardh satya
yeah right
